More about the PullRite >
SuperGlide is the only true solution for safe 5th wheel towing with short bed trucks. SuperGlide automatically moves the trailer away from the cab while making turns - allowing up to 90° turning without stopping, slowing down or even thinking about the space between the truck & trailer - and then automatically returns the hitch and trailer to the safe towing position over the truck axle when the turn is completed.
Until the introduction of the SuperGlide with the patented CamGlide feature, what options were there for people with short bed trucks? Not turn tight corners while towing your trailer? Install the hitch improperly... too far back in the truck bed to distribute the load correctly?
Buy a hitch that can be repositioned but forces you to throw levers. Set the trailer brakes, pull pins, move forward, insert pins, and then turn - and the probability that sometime, somehow either a turn will be made without remembering to go through that process - or an unintentional turn will be made during an emergency or a jack knife situation, and damage to the vehicles or worse will result?
These aren’t really answers and they don’t address your needs. The SuperGlide isn’t for everyone, but if you want to tow a 5th wheel trailer with a short bed pickup, the SuperGlide is the answer!
The PullRite SuperGlide is the solution! It allows a 5th wheel hitch to be installed properly and automatically adjusts the spacing between the trailer and the pickup cab during turns, without requiring the driver to do anything other than drive.
All SuperGlide models are available with the removable base rail type installation pioneered by PullRite. Unique SuperGlide mounting system allows hitch and mounting posts to be easily removed with no tools - when done towing, simply remove the hitch and rails, twist the heavy duty mounting posts ¼ turn and lift them out. A smooth, clean truck bed - with no need to carve chunks out of bed mats & liners.
The 12K SuperGlide is designed specifically for the new "shorter than a short bed" trucks - like Ford's F-150 SuperCrew, Nissan Titan, Toyota Tundra and the new 2005 Chevy 5' 8" bed truck. It moves up to 22-¾" while turning.
SuperGlide automatically moves the trailer away from the cab while making turns - allowing up to 90° turning without stopping, slowing down or even thinking about the space between the truck & trailer - and then automatically returns the hitch and trailer to the safe towing position over the truck axle when the turn is completed.
Please follow the links below to view pictures of the new SuperGlide designed to fit the new Ford F-150 Super Crew. As you will see in the pictures, some trailers will be at the limits of what the truck's wheelbase will allow. The width of the trailer and the king pin extension will need to be evaluated on an individual basis. Please feel free to call us at (888) GO HITCH (464-4824), 352-748-2388 or e-mail us with your application information to see if the 12K SuperGlide is right for you. The following pieces of information will assist in determining compatibility of your trailer with the Ford F-150 Super Crew:
1. Width of trailer. Simply measure the distance from one side of the trailer to the other.
2. Placement of King Pin in relation to the leading edge of the trailer. If you were to drop a plum bob off the top of the trailer so that the string would be even with the farthest out point on the trailer, what is the distance from the string to the center of the king pin? Is the king pin sticking out in front of the trailer or is it recessed under the trailer?
3. Are the corners of the trailer rounded or squared off?

SuperGlide is the ONLY true solution to safe 5th wheel towing with short bed trucks - protecting passengers, trucks, & trailers. SuperGlide automatically moves the trailer away from the cab while making turns - allowing up to 90° turning without stopping, slowing down, or even thinking about the space between the truck and trailer - and then automatically returns the hitch & trailer to the safe towing position over the truck axle when the turn is completed - going forward or backing up.
All SuperGlide hitches feature fully articulating dual pivot head, and Super 5th's unique rotary latch that locks automatically when hooking up to the trailer. The gear driven latch design minimizes "bump" while towing by allowing only .030" clearance between king pin and latch.
The 18K SuperGlide moves up to 14" while making a turn - 50% farther than manually adjusted "slider" designs - and works AUTOMATICALLY, while you drive and make short turns. Available with a choice of mounting styles - fixed base rails with universal mounting brackets for lower cost, or totally removable SuperRails with stronger, more stable custom designed mounting brackets for specific vehicles.

New QuickConnect
Capture Plates have
been designed to
work with the most
popular models of
king pin boxes.
The use of the
new QuickConnect
Capture Plates will
simplify the
installation and
significantly reduce
the time involved in
the installation.
The new QuickConnect
Capture Plate simply
slips up over the
king pin; set screws
secure it to the
king pin box. When
the trailer is
hooked up to the
hitch, the
QuickConnect Capture
Plate will function
and allow the
trailer to guide the
SuperGlide hitch to
move when turns are
being made.
All SuperGlide
hitches will require
the installation of
a capture plate in
order for the hitch
to function, either
the QuickConnect
capture plate as
described above, or
in installations
where a QuickConnect
Plate may not be
available, a
Universal Capture
Plate may be used.
The “Universal
Capture Plate” can
be used for any
trailer. On most
king pin boxes, this
is relatively
simple, but can be
time consuming to
install. However, in
cases where the
fore-to-aft
dimension of the
king pin box is very
short, installation
of extension plates
to support the
capture plate, and
knee braces to
support the leading
edge of the front
extension plate will
be necessary. The
installation of the
extension plates and
knee braces requires
additional time and
effort to complete
the proper
installation.
The SuperGlide Fitted Cover fits 18K, 14K, and previous 16K models of SuperGlide hitches. Made of high quality vinyl, with accent cording, hard support inserts & velcro tie
downs, it protects SuperGlides from dust, dirt, & the elements.
Spray on Graphite Paint coating cures overnite to a hard, dry, long lasting protective barrier and eliminates the need for grease on SuperGlide hitch “way tubes”. Stays on longer than grease, and keeps things clean & dust free.
When installing SuperGlide hitches, you can choose from the following mounting kits.
Universal Mounting Kits (includes base rails, "L" brackets & mounting hardware.) The "ordinary" mounting bracket kit and the only choice available for other brands of 5th wheel hitches. Small "L" brackets are bolted to the frame of the truck - and base rails are installed in the bed.
NOTE : CANNOT BE USED ON HYDROFORMED FRAMES LIKE 02 and newer DODGE TRUCKS
Available for the 14K or 18K SuperGlide.
SuperRail Mounting Kits (includes SuperRails, custom designed mounting brackets & mounting hardware.) - totally removable base rails, utilizing SuperBracket type mounting brackets on the frame of the truck - and easily removable rails in the bed.
Just lift the hitch out, lift the rails off the heavy duty mounting posts and then simply twist the posts ¼ turn and remove them for a smooth, clean truck bed. Eliminates need to cut bed mats and liners for rail to floor contact. No tools required for complete hitch, rail and mounting post removal.
The SuperGlide hitch for short box trucks is optimally designed for trailers with a King Pin located even with, or ahead of the leading edge of the trailer (measured at the corners of the trailer).
There are many variables that can influence the ability to make a full 90° turn; including the trailer width, trailer profile, radius corners & truck cab profile. In many cases, even if the king pin is located under the trailer, behind the leading edge of the trailer, the SuperGlide may allow 90° turns - but NOT IN EVERY CASE.
a) center of king pin to nose of trailer (see A in figure SG1 below)
b) trailer width
c) make and model of truck
Ford F-150 SuperCrew customers will also need to measure from back of the king pin extension to center of the king pin (see B in figure SG1 below).
The 2004-2005 F-150 truck has bed sides that are 2” higher than other trucks. This may cause bed to trailer clearance problems. PullRite suggests that you investigate these potential problems before installing the hitch.
We will help confirm the applicability of the SuperGlide for you - before you buy. [back to top]
